dendro2014 3This conference continues to be the leading opportunity for scientists, managers and students who use tree-rings to present their research on a range of issues, including climate, ecology, geomorphology, archaeology, environmental sciences, conservation and policy to an international audience while seeing what advances and new ideas have been generated since the last World Dendro Conference in Finland four years ago.

Dendrochronology has been at the forefront of modern research that illuminates past and present patterns and processes in Earth systems and ecosystem sciences and informs a host of management and policy decisions at local, regional, and global scales. With Earth’s climate system undergoing rapid changes and ecosystems worldwide being subjected to an unprecedented range of stressors, dendrochronology is more important than ever.

The 9th International Conference on Dendrochronology will bring together leading scientists from a variety of disciplines to present cutting-edge research, address current debates, and assess future directions for tree€“ring science.

A dendrochronology field week held before the conference will introduce and improve the skills of those just starting in dendrochronology, while numerous trips outside of Melbourne will be available during and after the conference to experience the Australian continent in all its grandeur.
